What is DEM / Diagonal Entry Model?
The Diagonal Entry Model is the simplest, most clear cut approach you will ever learn. A first diagonal identifies a break of an existing trend structure, initiating a mean-reversal structure. A second diagonal sets up a “risk informed” entry for a push into a pre-defined target diagonal.
What is DTF / Dynamic Trend Following?
Dynamic trend following is a simple approach to identify the leading timeframe of a trend. The leading timeframe will give the Diagonal Entry Model to participate in the next emerging trend.
Does it work on all timeframes?
Yes, it works on all timeframes.
– For day trading, we use the hourly chart to trade intra day, and we use 1, 3, 5 or 10 minute charts to get long or short;
– For swing trades, the we wait for weekly consolidations, and then the daily or 4 hourly charts set up the DEM for the entry.
Why is DEM so powerful?
The Diagonal Entry Model is designed to get the earliest possible entry into a mean reversal. A trend structure is a combination of higher highs and higher lows in uptrends, or lower lows and lower highs in downtrends, and each bounce or pull back has a specific probability to develop a change in trend structure: a reversal.
Does it work for level to level trading?
Level to level trading is based on getting long at support, short at resistance, or taking a position after a failed break down / failed break out. DEM is particularly powerful when reclaiming a level, and gives you a superb edge for level to level trading.
Is it difficult to learn?
It is the simplest of systems you will ever practice. All you need to learn, is how to place the three specific diagonals that define the set up. The complete set of rules for risk and position management hand you the tools you need in order to manage the position after the entry has been taken and a new trend emerges. With DEM/DTF, you’ll have a realistic chance to become a successful trader, from entry to exit.
Does the course teach stop loss placement?
The system is complete, and the courses outline specific rules for risk and position management. You will learn exactly where and why to place your stop.
What about risk management?
With DEM and DTF, every entry becomes specifically risk defined. You will know exactly where to take the stop. The risk- and position management rules are carefully designed around minimising losses and compounding gains, even when entry setups sometimes don’t follow through.
Can I use DEM to build a position?
The third diagonal is the standardised target diagonal. When this target hits, 80% of the position is locked in, allowing the stop for the remaining 20% to be placed at break even. Price then searches for a higher low, setting up a new lower timeframe DEM. This second trade is executed in line with the parameters. If the setup fails, the runners stop out in break even, but if the setup works, a new round of partials again leaves 20% runners. So now we have 40% positions size exposed, with stops at break even and profits locked in.
What about trading psychology
DEM is easy on the mind. It helps preserve emotional capital, even during tough sessions.
